A well written, gripping debut novel. I especially enjoyed the level of detail and understanding of the detective process, but the story would have been more effective if more compact (at times it felt like reading an entire season of "The Killing" or "The Fall.") I applaud Ms. French's ambition of writing first person as a man, but in a couple key areas -- at least for me and for better or worse -- I think you need to be a man to think like a man!
