Zsadist, known hereafter as Z, was amazing in this book!! I already really like this character in the previous books but I loved him in this one. I don't know what it is with tortured heroes, but they grab me by the guts, especially when the book is well written.
I absolutely fell in love with Z in chapter 4. When I read about what happened to him at the time of his transition and shortly after, I finally got where he was coming from. Ward took us through Z's utter devastation and made him my favourite character in the series. I know. I'm weird. His torture and suffering endeared him to me. Get over it!
Z's flashbacks crushed me. He withstood so much suffering, pain his brothers can't identify epwith nor understand. How great was the scene where Phury rescued him? Or the scene where they're together in the hospital? Simply beautiful.
Z has been painted as a sadistic, immoral monster but thankfully this author gave us many glimpses along the way of this man's beautiful soul. And thankfully gave him Bella, a woman who saw the real man beneath it all. This book was wonderful (aside from some editing errors). The scene when Thorture finds out about Wellsie was incredible. I felt that deeply, due to how amazingly the scene was described.
I would have ended the series here. I actually wasn't going to read about the rest of the brothers because it seems like the series takes a life of its own. All new side characters? C'mon! But I will give it a chance after a brief break. I am curious about when John's secret will be revealed, to himself and the others.
