What a great book. This is the second fantastic paranormal romance I've read this year -- the other being Tessa Gratton's BLOOD MAGIC -- and I so hope these quality books mark a genre trend. I enjoyed UNEARTHLY through and through: the narrator, Clara; one of the first love triangles I totally went for; the realistic mother-daughter relationship; the beautiful, careful prose; and even the mythology. I found myself tearing up, which is rare, and the ending has me absolutely aching for the sequel.

And of course, the setting in Jackson Hole, Wyoming stole my heart right from the beginning. My debut, LIKE MANDARIN, is also set in Wyoming, and Jackson Hole represents the location of a certain character's rock bottom. Cynthia writes setting very well, and my own love for the Tetons and that corner of the country added an extra element to the book. Entirely recommended.
