really liked it
bookshelves: a-z, fantasy

This is the second book in the 'Aurora Cycle' series. It continues the magical adventure of the characters we met in the 'String Quartet' and takes us once again on a journey between two worlds.
Dawn , our protagonist and her friends return to St. Sigfrid Preparatory Academy but the arrival of three strangers through the rift will disrupt their lives , ending in tragedy. As the story progresses we learn more about the legend of the Rheingold and its powers both from new and old characters and from dipping into Grandfather's diary .
After a slow start, the story picks up pace taking unexpected turns towards the end. The last few chapters had me wanting more. Really appreciated the added romance. Very tastefully done. It's so easy to exaggerate in YA.
Anybody looking for a fantasy with a difference? Then this is the book for you!
