did not like it

I better understand why Candace Owens mentioned Thomas Sowell as someone she thinks highly of and has learned from. Sowell not only obviously holds a huge prejudice against southern white people, but he also attempts to speak too confidently about a black culture he doesn't truly represent.

Kelley Omg! I can’t believe you read this! I would love to talk about this with you! My parents are obsessed with Thomas Sowell! Ugh.

Shayla Mays yea... I'm trying to be more open about reading from a variety of people. Probably will be my first and last time reading an entire book by Sowell though. Maybe an article or essay in the future but I don't think I could spare another book to him.

message 3: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Lol what? There is a huge communication or understanding barrier with people nowadays. Sowell is not asserting from his own beliefs or experiences that southerners are of poor stature. He is simply presenting the case using historical evidence. He's calling a spade, a spade. Not being able to separate a presentation of facts from the individual presenting those facts in turn makes the judge, you in this case, project the presentation of said facts as their own forged beliefs.

message 4: by Courtney (new) - added it

Courtney It feels like he has a chip on his shoulder being a successful black man and is embarrassed by his race. He is unable to sympathize with their struggles because he cannot see his own privledges. He seems to pair a lack of education with laziness and blames the combination of the two as the cause of inequality.

Shayla Mays Right.
