This book, among several other Yancey titles, has been sitting on my bookshelf for years and I finally felt it was time to delve into it. I enjoyed the book and, as is my custom with non-fiction, made copious notes while reading it. Perhaps, as several reviewers have pointed out, it did not answer the question "What good is God?" but I enjoyed the book nonetheless. It was interesting to read about major events in various cultures and touched on a lot of questions on various topics that have been running through my head lately. I find that he seemed to speak on grace more than anything else but I was okay with that. I guess I've read this book at just the right time in my life to appreciate it, which is often how God works anyway. Being a person who suffers from chronic, debilitating pain I want to read his book(s) about pain next.
