I haven't read a lot of graphic novels so don't know how I feel about this book within that genre. But the writing itself was funny/witty and painted a sharp, skewering picture of the community in the book (writer's retreat with all sorts of different writers and personalities). Simmonds does a great job of distinguishing her characters and giving them each their own unique voice and personality. I watched the movie adaptation before I read the graphic novel and while I personally feel it didn't take away too much from either version, I do usually like the read the book before watching the movie.
