I found a new favourite author!! I cannot believe a random click landed me into such a gripping story. I could not put this down. Kids? They could wait. Dishes? They could wait. Laundry? Ummmm... wait. Even sleep could wait cuz I had to know how the love story between Addy and Quinn was going to end.
What a freakin roller coaster of pain, love, lust, miscommunication, grief, and forgiveness. I love that underneath all of the turmoil we couldn't mistake the strength of the love. Even when Quinn was a complete and utter jerk, I was still rooting for him. I guess it was because the book was written so well that I could understand his motives and his pain.
Addy was a goddamn superstar. She was amazingly patient and her love for Quinn could not be denied. Yes, she took a short 'detour' with Jake but I always knew that it was temporary. Nothing could stop the love that she and Quinn shared. Even when she witnessed what would be the ultimate betrayal and cause of heartbreak to most, she was grace under fire. Kudos to Addy for sticking it through. Her support team of Mac, Evan, and Elena deserve some praise as well.
I realize that I wanted the whole story of what happened in Addy's past, but once I found out, I felt so tortured. I know that realistically there are people in this world who suffer gross atrocities, far worse than what this character suffered, but holy crap. This was some ish. She suffered through a lot of loss, most of which many of us would have a hard time recovering from. I was just so moved by the way this tale was written. I really cannot think of one part that I wasn't satisfied with, even with the distasteful behaviour Quinn briefly showed. Thank God that behaviour was brief. I'm not sure my heart could have handled any more than that.
I loved every scene between Addy and Quinn. From the hilarious banter, to the anger, to the contempt, to the painful, to the utterly beautiful loving ones. Their love is hands down one of the best stories I've witnessed in years. Thank you so much Jewel E. Ann for your fantastic prowess with the literary word. You are a master at this woman. Truly amazing!!
