These books are as addictive as ever. The first glow of something new and different is starting to wear off, though. I find with each passing book that Ward has not thought enough about a separate and complete society and culture for the vampires (particularly since many of them seem to disdain human company) for my taste. The brothers look like stereotypical thugs. They have adopted much of the language and dress of the stereotype. For a race that is disdainful of humans, they certainly don't seem to try to set themselves apart in any meaningful way.

I enjoyed immensely the way Marissa changed throughout the course of the story. Her relationship with Butch made me very frustrated at times due to their lack of communication and making assumptions about what the other person was thinking/feeling.
