really liked it
bookshelves: owned, character-deep-dive

I didn't find this an easy read, but I did find it a wonderful one. The baseball-as-metaphor will annoy some (it did me, sometimes), but it's mostly possible to overlook. Mostly, though, everything you've heard is true; it is an emotional book full of highs and lows and unforgettable characters and lovely writing. Worth every bit of the sometime slog.

Steve I'm glad to hear that the book has appeal even beyond the baseball-as-metaphor aspects. I was hoping as much.
