The story told in this book is a unique one, told from a new perspective. Yet the theme is an ages-old one : the search for oneself. These are definite strengths of the novel.

The style and language of the book are familiar to anyone who is a fan of Jimmy Buffett's music. The easy-going, colloquial language, the frequent cultural references, are clear strengths of his songs. And yet, in a song - as in any poetry - where the few words used need to be strong, such language is one of the songwriter's strengths. The same style, stretched over 456 pages as opposed to over a dozen or so lines, can become tedious.

Still, all in all, this is a book that, for its very originality, is a pleasant read.
