really liked it
bookshelves: humorous, satire

Voltaire's Candide provided me a hilarious experience due to the incredible amounts of absolutely ridiculous (mostly juvenile) satire which details the journey of young Candide throughout the world. What's really amazing about Candide is the way some of its satire truly makes light of the horrible events or conflicts of the world during Voltaire's time, varying from an uncontrollable outbreak of syphilis to the response of civilization to a city-crushing earthquake and more. It is simply awkward and entertaining. From this, I feel that the use of satire can help me become a more effective writer by using it to alter the events which take place in life in order to reveal the absurdity of their nature.
