This was a super quick read, but the author sure fit in a lot of similes and metaphors. She was VERY careful about her writing, and although she was very descriptive...I didn't feel that she wasted my time with any extra words.

What is there to say about Ethan Frome without sounding like a Lit teacher? I was torn between great writing, depressing images, realistic characters, and inescapable life situations. I enjoyed reading it, but it wasn't uplifting.
