it was amazing

I began my foray into American history this year with McCullough's classic look into the most crucial year in the nation's formation. This book was hard to put down. Through the drama of the Revolutionary War's opening months, to the compelling glimpse into the lives and relations of the key characters on the stage, McCullough delivers on every page. Although I knew that 'good guys' were going to win in the end, 1776 somehow managed to build in suspense as the story unfolded. If you are at all interested in late-18th century American history, this book is a great starting point.
