A decent beginning to the trilogy. Some of the second act gets a bit draggy, and everything until the Passage feels a bit like an extended prologue for the story proper. The protagonist, Darrow, is also not quite as interesting as those around him - particularly Mustang and Sevro.
But overall, a thoroughly enjoyable read. I'm keen for the next one.
Oh, also, no matter how many times you say it, 'gorydamn' and 'bloodydamn' are never going to feel like insults. More like Narm.

Haha I just finished my actual quick review, and I mentioned too that the early stuff was kind of zzzz and I wish we could've gotten POV from more interesting characters. But agreed it's a solid start.
