Jeez Louise!! This book took me on a roller coaster ride of horror!! The atrocities that Victoria had to endure by the hands of Joe were insane. That man deserved to be on everyone's hit list. Shoot, even I wanted to kill him. Dude wass seriously disturbed and disgusting. An immoral and evil soul that did not deserve to walk this earth.
And I felt her pain. Her pain was surreal. I don't know how any person who has to suffer through this comes out sane on the other side. I'm glad these authors kept her recovery realistic. And Jude? He has had to suffer and lose so much in his life. This is just one more burden to bear. And my beloved Caleb? My heart is just in pieces for these characters.
The court scene was almost as hard to read as the scenes with Joe, simply because of the pain quotient. Emotional and mental anguish over here!! However, one of my favourite scenes was pretty gory in itself. The scene between Jude, Victoria, and Mussa. I actually laughed during this one!
Towards the end I got a little bit worried that there wouldn't be a HEA but I'm glad things worked out the way they did. It probably wouldn't have worked as well as it did otherwise. I'm happy to let these two go. They found their peace amidst the chaos. And I wish them well with Cayla and any other additions they may have.
