really liked it

This 1890 book is well written and quite different from anything I've ever read. It is part mystery, part science fiction, part fantasy, and part horror. Two friends in London come upon several strange people with strange stories to tell. At first the book seems to be a group of short stories, but soon you begin to get connections between the characters and stories - definitely a good read. One of the items in discussion is a black stone with strange characters and swirls.
