Oh I hate to rain on the parade. Yes, it's gorgeous, lovely cover, very nicely done for the most part except the notes don't always fall on the same page as their explanations. But I expected more. Dropping in a pic of a chair and saying it could have been in Lady Catherine de Bourgh's house doesn't float my boat. Explaining that Liverpool is a town in the north of England but not mentioning that it was one of the major slave trade ports is plain sloppy.

We know Austen worked on this ms., on and off, for over a dozen years. Yet there was no scholarly speculation on what might have been preserved from the ealier version(s) or what factual mentions may have placed the novel in a particular timeframe.
