really liked it

A mysterious and entrancing book. The action revolves around the life of three friends, linked by an incident that occurred when they were students. Heavily influenced by an Aleister Crowley like figure, we may be seeing actual magical events or the products of impressionable and over-imaginative minds.

What kept me turning the pages were the wonderful descriptions of people and places - people you might meet, and places you might visit. M John Harrison has a simply wonderful way with words. I've read a few of his books, and hope to read many more.
