This might be my most controversial review on Goodreads. I'm really sorry, I really wanted to like this, I did, I really did, but I just couldn't. No matter how far I pushed myself, I felt like I was swimming in maple syrup. I normally love descriptive books with beautiful, flowery prose, but this was too much for me. Maybe I'll try again one day, but today is not that day.

Don't feel bad! Honestly, when I read this, I thought it felt like Twilight but at a goth circus.

I like your review. It is very interesting.
Loved this book, but I can understand its not for everyone 😊
I'm with you. I tried 3 separate times to read it because all of the great reviews. DNF every time.
I've been trying to read it again and every time I look at the percentage, I'm always surprised at how slow I'm reading it. It feels like I should be almost done with the book after listening to the audio for six days on 1.5/2x, but I'm only at 35%. I don't think I can do it anymore
