I'm not sure about this one. The writing was good, and I really did want to stick it out to the end... there were two main storylines here; one about a modern artist who's obsessed to the point of ruining his relationships and a historical female painter. I really liked the historical part of the novel, I suppose I was supposed to be more captivated by the slow way it all unfolded.. but the big issue with this was the whole bit about how much artists must suffer and can't let things go and can't have human relationships... that really was a bit much. That might be just my mood right now though, and the fact that I read this because it came from the library rather than the book I *wanted* to read next.
