it was ok

I'm trying out a lot of different authors in this genre which is a new one for me. Tim Weaver scored better than some of the others on a tight pace that kept me wanting to turn the pages. I also liked the structure, with the third person flashbacks interspersed between the chapters of the main thread, which is first person, present day. The story line was sufficiently convoluted to keep my interest and I didn't guess the ending. I didn't find it a problem that I had not read books #1 to #4 in the series; this one stands alone, more or less.

However I spotted several inconsistencies that should have been edited out and I'm not sure the Devon geography was as accurate as it could have been; if real places are being written about, they should be located in the right place! An okay read, but I'm not sure I will read the rest of the series.
