I adore Chess Putnam. And honestly that surprises me since if I knew Chess in real life I would pretty much look down at her for being a junkie and not caring or even wanting to get off the drugs and improve her living situation. But it works for the series.

Chess is put on a big, hush hush case, which includes binding spell so she can't discuss it with anyone else. Which when Bump gets wind of her investigating around his properties makes Terrible work with her, so he can report back to him. Which makes it even harder for Chess since Terrible can't even stand to be in the same room as her.

Chess of course finally solves the case, and I wasn't surprised that it kind of involved someone from the Church. There is some twists and turns that kept me guessing the whole time.

If you love Chess and Terrible the ending is just...there's no words. You'll be very happy indeed.
