The concept was interesting, but the execution was often confusing and sometimes inappropriate for the audience. Katla Leblanc discovers her family secrets in that she is not only inducted into the Icelandic Stork Society but that she is in charge of deciding who will have the next baby. Imagine her surprise when one of the possible mother candidates is her own divorced mom. Add to that the secret Katla learns about her own past, including a brush with death and the boy who saved her. The intimated sexual references at the beginning of the novel bothered me, as did the unnecessary use of swear words. At the end, the reveal of the true identity of a couple of characters was distracting to the main story, and I felt like I was being set up for a sequel that I wasn't sure I cared about.
