really liked it

I did read enough about this book to know it was an alternate version of Jane Eyre. Boy, howdy, was it a different version alright. I like different versions of things by the bye, if you've read Mary Stewart's Wicked Day (a version of the King Arthur legend -- from the perspective of Mordred) or seen Wicked (a version of Wizard of Oz), you know what I mean.

In reading this, I found myself puzzled at the first interval of how this could possibly match up wtih JE. This is one of those things where it makes sense mostly at the end, and then you are compelled to retreive your copy of JE and read it to try to find plot loopholes.

You shan't.

The book is better than serviceably written, the perspective is morose and scary and evocative and ugly, the book is well worth it.
