it was amazing

I really enjoyed “The Bloodheart.” The characters and settings were unique and interesting. I never knew where I was going next, but when I got there, I wasn’t disappointed. It was always vivid and cool. The plot was strong too, and logical. I don’t recall any holes in the narrative. Just one scene of fun after another.

Did I mention the uniqueness? The world of the novel was fantasy+, meaning it was mostly fantasy, but with a hint of the science fiction that is Mr. Rzasa’s forte. I also like the author’s choice of first person present tense here.

There was an unusual twist there to, though, because the story alternated between two characters. First person typically follows only one character throughout—but the switchs were handled well in “The Bloodheart.” I think the point-of-view really paid off.

There is a smattering of adult language and innuendo, but I thought the author
handled that tactfully. About the level of a PG movie, really.

All in all, “The Bloodheart” is a fun, quick read. I recommend it, along with any of the author’s books. He’s a gifted and hardworking storyteller.
