An absolutely amazing book on so many levels!
First of all, the letters arguing about faith (and also love, the relationship between men and women and life in general as subtext) were a great read during the Brisbane flood. Second, the translation is brilliant, and the notes and commentary richly complement the main text, increasing my enjoyment and understanding of the context of the book. And last but not least the supplementary letters attributed to Abelard and Heloise at the height of their affair are some of the most beautiful words of love I've ever read in a letter - definitely something I'm going to be looking at when I feel lonely or unloved.
