really liked it
bookshelves: fiction

The book started off a little slow, but it was definitely worth reading it. I didn't have much of an interest in the subject matter at first, but I found the book to be very interesting and I could not wait to see what was going to happen next! I also liked how the story was told from the perspective of all the women in the family.

Although the story was fictional, I like how Kingsolver brought real political elements into the novel and the reader gets a good sense of what life is really like in an area of the world where imperialism has had a large impact on the people of that region.
