It's obvious that Lyon has experienced vision problems--the book rings so true. Ginny is a child who sees double. By "tightening up her mind" she is often able to control it, but it is so hard. And she's so clumsy. Her kindergarten classmates giggle and tease, but she carries on. Then comes vision screening and the adult recognition of her problem. A visit to the eye doctor results in a patch---and Ginny becomes the pirate of kindergarten! Now life is good. One does wonder how her classmates reacted to the patch and how long she wore it. Both often can be issues.
