A wonderful redemptive story, though shocking at times. Deals with injustice, racial prejudices, familial love, and growing up in real ways, often using surprising and jarring circumstances.

Recommendation: Excellent book for the reader who is able to deal with some of these social issues maturely. A superb “thinker” book for the novice/intermediate international English student.
