it was amazing

I read this before going to Panama last year for the purpose of learning about the country's history, not thinking I'd actually enjoy and love it. This is an amazing read, whether you're interested in the Panama Canal or not. The story touches on (or delves into) European history, American history, Jewish history, Latin American history in such a gripping, dramatic and sometimes funny way. Took me about 75 pages to get into; well worth it.
