The second book in Ms. Marlowe's The Order of the M.U.S.E. series features Pierce Langdon, Viscount Westfall, a man with telepathic powers. Unable to to help from 'reading' those around him, he had been deemed mad and placed in an asylum for a while before being rescued by the sponsor and leader of the Order to help protect Britain from her enemies. With a new threat on the horizon, Pierce uses his gifts to root out treason. Unfortunately, it looks as if the newest threat comes from the one woman he has any interest in, Lady Nora Claremont. Intrigue abounds as Pierce and the fellow Order members seek to unravel from whom the latest threat comes.

Ms. Marlowe has a deft hand at creating characters that resonate both with each other and with the reader. Both Nora and Pierce are fully rounded, with pasts that aren't pretty but they still try to overcome them. The supporting characters are also rich and vivid. Regency England comes alive in Ms. Marlowe's book.

While I've not read the first book in this series, I didn't feel lost at all. If you're looking for a new Regency England romance author with a spot of intrigue and suspense, this book is for you.
