As a beginning side note, the reason that I even read this book in the first place was because I needed to read something that related psychology for my Psych class's critical analysis assignment.

Honestly, I only gave it two stars because I can't think of anything profoundly special about the book. Granted, they're diary entries of an 11-year-old, & it's commendable that Gottlieb's willing to share her story, but it definitely wasn't a satisfying read.

The best part of the entire book was the epilogue, where Gottlieb touches on how she feels about the issues that are synonymous with being a woman in our society (i.e. you have to be thin & pretty, being fat will not allow you to be happy, etc).

Having an eating disorder myself (& therefore I thought that I would have actually enjoyed the book), I would not recommend this if you're looking for a read which is prolific in some way. You will gain no new perspective from reading this book.
