Charlie Parker lives in Maine, trying to recover from the murder of his wife and daughter. He has journeyed to Louisiana to kill The Traveling Man, who was responsible for their deaths, but he is still haunted. Charlie agrees to track down the deadbeat husband of Rita Perdue and unleashes a maelstrom of murder and pain. Turns out Billy had helped himself to some money that did not belong to him and gangsters from Boston wanted it back. And who is the old man that has been seen around town also searching for Billy? Dead bodies turn up wherever Charlie goes. Then the name Caleb Kyle is whispered into the wind and Charlie knows things will never be the same. Very atmospheric and well written, I will be looking for more in this series.
