Another visit into the village of Ballybucklebo in Ireland. Another chance to see the characters met in previous books. If you want to know what doctoring was like in the 1960's in a small village this novel will give you a glimpse into that life. The characters are warm and well developed. Dr. Reilly has now had his new associate for five months. This will be Dr. Laverty's first Christmas in town. He is finally feeling comfortable and Dr. Reilly, Kinky, and Kitty are beginning to feel like family. There are always lots of things going on in Ballybucklebo and they welcome you with open arms to meet them. So have a half pint at the local pub and enjoy the colorful locals. There is a section at the end of the book by the author who further explains what medical practice was like during this time. It was a very interesting addition to the book. I will certainly read other books by Patrick Taylor.
