it was amazing

I'm still a little skeptical about whether the author of this book was really a slave (this despite the extensive sections in this edition documenting how it was authenticated). Whoever it was that wrote this narrative, though, one thing is clear: this author is a phenomenal storyteller. There are lots of amateurish mistakes throughout (like slipping from past tense to present and back again), and it's clear that the author was going for some sort of Edgar Allen Poe atmosphere in places, but the story is extremely compelling and hard to put down. I very much enjoyed reading this. Highly recommended.
