it was amazing
bookshelves: catholic, distant-isles, fiction, good-reads, historical-novels, humor
Read from January 16 to 20, 2011

This is without a doubt one of the most complicated and impressive novels I've read in a year. It is brutal at times, but being a doctor in Ethiopia would be so heart wrenching. Verghese's ability to capture the qualities of human dignity and thought is as razor sharp as his scalpel, and I was glad to go along with him on the journey.

I don't want to reveal more because it would be unfair to the characters and their creator to give anything away.
