really liked it
bookshelves: africa, history, twentieth-century

This is a very solid basic introduction to the history of Africa from independence through to 2005 if somewhat short on analysis. It is classic narrative history giving us Africa from the standard liberal Western perspective. Nevertheless, it is recommended both as a well-written read and as a basic reference text.
