it was amazing
bookshelves: library-audio

Awesome - I listened to this as an audiobook read by the author. I think that made it great because of his British accent and the emphasis he put on certain phrases. The plot is about what happens when Queen Elizabeth starts reading books. The author makes some points about the value of reading that we kind of take for granted. It changes her personality and world view and you get a sense of what it would be like to be "uncommon". It's a short book so no huge time commitment.

“What she was finding also was how one book led to another, doors kept opening wherever she turned and the days weren't long enough for the reading she wanted to do.”
