The first time I started to read Bone Deep I could not get past the first two chapters. The main character and narrator was a little too bitter for my taste. After lossing the book for over a year before having it returned to me, I found myself more sympathetic.

Krister LeDoux has cause to be bitter. He is starting adulthood as the son of a man who killed eight people. He is also getting cryptic notes that make little sense, add that to the normal teenage angst of broken relationships and college classes! Give Krister a chance, he is not such a bad guy.

I was more entranced by Cambria, the mysterious girl he meets at the train station. Her sadness opens Krister's heart and gives him life. It also leads to inevitiable conflict. This is a beautiful little love story of two people who need each other and yet cannot be together. Both Cambria and Krister have secrets that they dare not share and that makes for a great story.
