** spoiler alert ** A well-written parody of the genre policier, with a bit of SF and philosophical notions and/or characters thrown in. The "well-written" part is no surprise, as one can often see the shadow of the puppet master before or behind his characters. A good taste of it, no copyright infringement intended:
"I was gifted, am gifted. Sometimes, I looked at my hands and realized that I could have been a great pianist or something. But what have my hands done? Scratched my balls, written checks, tied shoes, pushed toilet levers, etc. I have wasted my hands. And my mind."
Does it sound familiar or what?
To paraphrase the name of this site, good reading, dearies ;)
