Translated from the French by Ros Schwartz.^^^^Characters are starting to have more depth (which is always good) and when I think I've got it worked out (i.e. what I anticipate to happen), it gets all twisty and I realised I don't know where it's heading (which is always interesting).^^^^But that's not to say it can't be predictable. ^^^^It's slightly better written than the previous book; it wasn't as stilted and flowed a bit better, though overall it is a bit rough around the edges. Interestingly, I read some reviews on Amazon, where some parents totally hated the book because it was written so \badly\"... and I wonder if they realise how hard it is to translate novels into English, as well as keeping true to the voice of the story. I'd like to see them try!"
