Prince of Thorns (The Broken Empire, #1)

I can't necessarily say I *liked* this book, but I did find a lot of it interesting. Jorg is utterly loathsome and not at all a good or likeable person, and he's definitely the most difficult protagonist I've had to experience a novel with. But the world building was solid, and a lot of the supporting characters were interesting.
If I hadn't been told that the two subsequent Broken Empire books and the Red Queen's War trilogy were so much better (the latter in particular seems to have garnered many accolades), it's possible I might've stopped my journey with Jorg here. As it is, let's see if that praise is justified.
