really liked it
bookshelves: 2015-books, mystery, thrillers-crime

The (currently final although I presume other books are being worked on) instalment in this very enjoyable series, which combines stand-alone murder mysteries/crimes in each novel with the broader arcs of life in the small town of Millers Kill, and importantly the relationship between Chief of Police Russ and Reverend Clare. This one is probably the most intense thriller-style of the books yet, with characters in a great deal of physical danger for vast chunks of the novel. I was tremendously irritated by the actions of one of the more minor characters right at the end of this book, and am sad that there's not a follow-up I can read immediately to satisfy myself that he greatly regrets the silly decision he made.
