I feel a great need to read books in which the main characters are dinosaurs, and I'm prepared to put up with a lot of crap while doing so. But why would an author put dinosaurs in his book if he was so indifferent to what they actually are? Just so everyone's clear, Coelophysis is a Dinosaur, Coleophysis is a marine snail (and a German heavy metal band, who apparently are as sloppy with their research as Garcia). And it's not just nomenclature, the entire dinosaur angle is very poorly thought through. That said, it's not a complete disaster as a mystery. The writing is genre satire, campy and not particularly skillful but obviously motivated by love of mystery literature and the joy of wordsmithing.
