I pre-ordered this and the next in the series as soon as I saw the dolls showcased at D23 on instagram. As a toy collector, I knew they'd need to be additions to my collection once they're released so in the meantime, I figured I'd read the series to see how much I'd end up loving the characters. Turns out, a lot! This was a fun, easy read that set a good foundation for the Star Darlings series. I love the contrast between Starland and Wishworld and the girls missions to capture/grant positive wishes as a form of energy. This story gives me sort of nostalgic feels because it's like a mashing of my own childhood favorites Rainbow Brite and Jem. It's wholesome story-telling, with spectacular imagery. I'm even more excited for the dolls now and can't wait to dive into the next book in the series!
