did not like it
bookshelves: audiobooks, historicalfiction, couldntfinish, maybe-it-s-me

Okay, how many disclaimers can I write for one review?

1. I didn't finish it; maybe it actually got better.

2. It got great reviews; it must be me.

3. I'm just not a war novel person; that's not the book's fault.

4. At the risk of sounding anti-feminist, I think this is really a guy book.

5. All that military detail might actually be interesting to someone who likes that kind of thing.

6. Maybe audio just wasn't the medium for this kind of book; it might have worked better for me in print.

But the bottom line is, although I'm clearly in the minority I could barely get through the first section (of 20) in this audiobook. It simply didn't interest me.

Skylar Burris I never would have guessed it was a "guy book" from the cover. ;)

K Since I download the books on audio, covers are less influential for me than they used to be. I had a feeling it would be a "guy book" when I read the description, but decided to try leaving my reading comfort zone. Oh, well.

Skylar Burris Well, sometimes its good not to judge a book by its cover.

K True.

Jessica S. Ha! I'm cracking up over this review. Love it. If I had a nickel for every time item 2 applied to a book I've read, I'd have a whole lotta nickels...

K Thanks! Item 2 is a frequent one for me too.

Mitaleedas I read the whole thing waiting for it to get better. It never did
