The illustration is beautiful. This is a reproduction of a 1960s book and Ipcar is a fantastic children's illustrator with a distinct style from that era. A pure pleasure to look at. The text, however, is not so great. I'm no expert, but I don't believe the part where she says once all cats were wild then we tamed them to become house cats. The illustration would have you believe Mittens is descended from lions and tigers. What about the Egyptian house cats? Doesn't bother me but I can tell you animal activists are *not* going to like all the pages about how animals work for the good of humankind. Just saying .... Pretty illustration thoug
