Although you cannot take very seriously this story, and although it does not have much historical accuracy, it was still quite entertaining until the end.
We have the heroine, Abigail, betrothed to his neighbor and childhood friend, it have been years without seeing each other, and she is still surprised that he is not the man who she thought he was, but hey, we can overlook this detail and enjoy the interaction of the two MC´s.
It has been best solved the mystery than the romance. The mystery has been entertaining and until the end, even if you had a suspect in mind, you do not find out who the culprit is.
But I did not like the romance. The situation that generates the end of the betrothal with her ex and provokes the new engagement to the hero is, to put it in some way, somewhat absurd. The heroine never recognizes the danger she has been exposed to, nor gives it any importance, and while the feelings of both MC´s are clear to the reader, the author makes us deal with a few pages about insecurities that only contribute to the length and boredom of the story. Also I neither liked how this situation is solved, nor the final reunion of the MC´s. It has seemed to me very forced and unoriginal.
I understand that this story will have its audience and that it has not been bad at all, but for me it did not worked.
