I read this almost exactly a year ago and liked it better the first time. I think McCracken is wonderful; I adore her memoir and there are moments of brilliance in this book, especially near the beginning. But the novel feels a little too concept-y (a librarian loves a giant. GO.), partly because of the plot pacing and partly because of the disappointing ending that feels somehow easy and convenient.
